Moving to tropical Rincon
Puerto Rico influenced my most recent paintings. Living at Villa Orleans I am surroundedby our own lush gardens and the Caribbean Sea. The wide variety of plants and the many seashells I find make there way to my canvas. The distant mountains and cloud formations have an almost surreal feeling I look for in nature. Natural beauty surrounds me, and creates a sense of peace and tranquility I strive to translate to my work.

My first experience with painting was a paint by numbers depiction of a man fly fishing in a lake surrounded by mountains and large cumulus clouds.  As the image began to develop I realized that I had no interest in painting such a mundane scene.  I converted the fisherman into an astronaut and the background into an outer space scene complete with planets and spaceships.  I was not only satisfied but proud of the transformation and at the age of fifteen, ready to pursue a career as a painter.

Thirty one years later I continue looking at the world around me and transforming it on canvas with my own approach and style.  My most recent paintings encompass a variety of subjects and styles.  My new body of work includes (nearly) realistic landscapes found in Puerto Rico, fantasy floral scenes, surreal landscapes and a modern psychedelic abstract series.  Moving from one style to another helps keep the painting process challenging, exciting and far from commonplace.
