...the light is full of contrast--bright, intense and alive with power. At dusk, the light is aglow with reds and oranges… softer and more relaxed. The water is ever present for those who live on or near the coast.
Puerto Rico displays all the colors of life, buildings painted in saturated yellows and greens or paler shades of pink and orange as if to complement the colors at dawn and dusk. Flowers, in wild shapes and extravagant colors, the vines and leaves, trunks of
trees, and palm fronds are a wild proliferation of curves. Underwater we see echoed the profusion of shapes and colors we see on land. Each bit of coral, no matter its size, seems alive with the stuff of life. Our work in photography and other media is a part of this place in the sun, set in the sea, a gift of Creation.
Ted Davis is a boat Captain and Diving Instructor. He came to photography in Puerto Rico through his work underwater. He has a passion to share with others what is unseen.
